The Knockout: Big Pilot’s Watch Edition Muhammad Ali

It’s no secret that IWC has been hugely successful, especially in the last 10 years. Even though I am a watch purist and really don’t agree with a lot of the choices they have made in the last few years, I applaud them! I remember selling the brand 20 years ago, when the person answering the phone was also the sales rep. The evolution of this company is outstanding. IWC has always been that subtle elegant watch with incredible craftsmanship, so it amazes me how the brand awareness has spread so far and so fast that they just recently launched their multi story NYC boutique April 25 2012.

What an amazing accomplishment for this brand to have a 3,000 sq ft Maison in the best city in the world NYC. To launch this boutique the right way, IWC didn’t pull any punches. So it was very fitting for the brand to commemorate the opening of this boutique with the the launch of the Big Pilot’s Watch Edition Muhammad Ali, a 250 limited edition which is a US exclusive.

According to IWC worldwide CEO, George Kern, who flew in from Switzerland for the opening of the boutique “The opening of this Flagship Boutique in New York City is very special for us,”  “It not only reflects our unique identity and provides an exceptional customer experience, it also marks a return to our American heritage as our new ‘house of stories.’ We are looking forward to welcoming our guests at this marvelous location and inviting them to experience IWC’s spirit and philosophy.”

This historic launch event brought out boxing legends, actors, models, and the personal photo-biographer and dear friend of Muhammad Ali. Howard Bingham, who has chronicled Muhammad Ali’s career on camera. This exhibition of photograph’s by Bingham will be on display at the IWC boutique in NYC for the public to see till the end of May.
